He has run the PVCC community garden since 2007 and enjoys talking about books, hiking, plants, and cooking. Once upon a time he dropped out of college to sell used cars during a recession - so he's very passionate about you staying in school!
Debbie Ashby

Debbie has worked as a counselor in many different capacities from the West Coast to the East Coast, from high school to higher education. She is passionate about helping students find their goals and explore options to achieve them. Debbie is in her tenth year working at PVCC, including time as a Career Coach in Charlottesville High School. Being a first-generation student raised by a single mother with limited income, Debbie is in touch with many of the issues students face at PVCC. She loves helping others! Outside of work, Debbie is active in the community, enjoys local adventures and spends much of her time exercising, reading and playing with her dog, Boomer.
Lindsay Diamond
College Success Navigator
ldiamond@pvcc.edu 434.961.5372
Lindsay studied both painting and graphic design from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and has worked as a professional greeting card illustrator, graphic designer, art director, project manager and creative director on both coasts. She has taught art to children, created book covers and interiors for independent as well as incarcerated authors, continued a fine art practice and dabbles in writing and illustrating children's books that are really for the inner child in us all. A long held interest in mindfulness, growth and being of service to others influences much of her work. Having lived coast to coast, abroad and many places in between, she currently lives in Charlottesville, VA with her author/software engineer husband, three kids and two dogs. She is also a current resident artist at McGuffey Art Center.
Basil Khan
UVA Graduate Intern
Basil Khan is an intern at the Student Success Office for the 2023-2024 academic year. He is a master's student of Higher Education at UVa. Prior to UVa, Basil was at Denison University where he studied Psychology & Music in a liberal arts curriculum. He is of the belief that education builds character, and that it is who we are that determines what we do (a message he has adapted from Fred Rogers). Basil is finding his time at PVCC to be very meaningful. Being a graduate of the Community College of Philadelphia and having been exposed to diverse collegiate environments, he finds himself impressed by the PVCC staff and student body. He is always willing to lend a hand in any capacity. When you talk with him, you'll find that he is a good listener and takes interest in students' lives.
